Cross Country has been in full swing since before the first day of school, but we had not attended a meet until this past week. We kicked off our season with a Team Luncheon prepared for by the Moms of XC on Thursday. They generously provided lasagna, spaghetti, salad, dessert and drinks for the High School team. To say it was delicious would be an understatement! It was so good and perfect ahead of our first meet. We can’t thank ya'll enough for this!!
HS XC traveled to Malaquite Beach to run at the National Seashore at Flour Bluffs, where the invitational meeting will be held on Friday morning. This meet was unique because the entire course is run on sand. There’s something about running along the beach with the waves rolling in. Our teams did great! Varsity Boys team consisted of Roan Bell (4th), Robbie Ochoa, Brenden Solomon, Romeo Gutierrez and Edwin Lopez. Varsity Girls consisted of Katelina Rendon (8th), Adelina Bell, Mica Gutierrez, Miranda Garcia and Maisyn Bippert. The girls team placed 4th overall. Running for JV this week was Remi Perryman, Preston Johnson, Ralph Guevara, Morgan Butler, Jordyn Salazar and Izzy Couch.
MS XC traveled to Skidmore to compete at their first meet on Saturday morning. The boys team was made up of Jake White (9th), Joshua Ochoa (16th), William Clements, Jamie Gonzales, Logan Colley, Dairren Huff, Jason Olivarez, and Mason Johnson. This team placed 4th overall. The girls lacked one runner to make a team, so they competed individually. Emilie Russek (12th), Bethany Salinas, Molly Johnson, and Zenissa Cantu all ran really well!
I am very proud of all these runners. Running in these hot, humid conditions is never easy, and they never back down. Way to go, Running Hawks!!
This week both MS and HS will travel to West Guth to compete at the Odem Invitational on Saturday morning.
