During lunch, local producer, Mighty Lil’ Microgreens educated students on the big health benefits of these tiny plants, and students tried samples of broccoli, radish, and cantaloupe microgreens. These greens are grown right here in Riviera and will be part of our new salad bar.

Coach Artie's Spanish class has been busy celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month! Look at this awesome display, showcasing the impact of several, influential Hispanic leaders. The class has also heard from various guest speakers who spoke about the importance of being bilingual. Stay tuned for more from our Spanish Club, too, which is comprised of both middle and high school students!

Yesterday, a group of students attended the South Texas Food Show in South Padre Island, hosted by Region One ESC. They had the opportunity to sample 100+ school foodservice products and offer their feedback. Their favorites were yogurt smoothies, carnitas, and sushi!

Nanny Elementary School 4th grade students in Mrs. Yaklin's math class are working diligently to collaborate in groups and solve multi-step operations. Mrs. Yaklin is an expert educator and her students are receiving the best math learning experiences.

Mrs. Salas' 4th Grade Science students enjoyed conducting science labs while learning about mixtures and solutions. During this science experiment, they used their mixtures and solutions to create lava lamps. As you can see, at Nanny Elementary School, students receive learning experiences from expert teachers delivered through high-quality instructional materials in a fun environment. Here at Nanny Elementary School, we are training future doctors every day. Mrs. Emmons' and Mrs. Smith's 1st Grade students enjoyed their day as a "Doctor" in the "Operating Room". They practiced Band-Aid math operations and Body System puzzles. The first graders had so much fun learning!
