Riviera ISD students are making plans for their future!
Students enrolled in the Applied Agricultural Engineering Pathway have worked hard this year to earn industry-based certifications in welding. Students have passed welding certification tests for American Welding Society D1.1 and 9.1 in both shielded metal arc welding as well as gas metal arc welding. In total, Riviera ISD students have earned 28 welding certifications.

JOIN RIVIERA ISD, with the DEPARTMENT OF SUPPORT SERVICES, and our COMMUNITY on WEDNESDAY, APRIL 19, 2023 & wear PURPLE!
Riviera FFA members have been competing at the Mesquite District and Area X FFA Spring Career Development Events. Area X FFA consists of 27 counties and a total of 105 schools. Students compete against all schools regardless of size in their respective competitions. Riviera FFA competed in Applied Agricultural Engineering, Greenhand Livestock Judging, Chapter Livestock Judging, Floriculture, Poultry Judging, Agriculture Technology and Mechanical Systems, and Veterinary Science.
The Applied Agricultural Engineering team placed 3rd in the district. Team members included: Oliver Holland, Tyler Sheffield, Martin Mayo, Walker Dobson, Jake Colston, and Zach Franco.
The Floriculture team placed 2nd in the district. Team members included Elizabeth Lugo, Adrianna Ramirez, and Joshua Russek.
Greenhand Livestock Judging placed 5th in the district. Team members included Benny Rodriguez, Kris Cruz, and Emma Valenzuela.
Chapter Livestock Judging team includes Zane Henske, Aidyn Avelar, Abby Alegria, Haley Dobson, Destinee Reyes, Ian Mayberry, Sienna Colin, and Ryan Godfrey.
The Agriculture Technology and Mechanical Systems Team won the District Champion title, placed 2nd in the area, and is advancing to the Sam Houston State University state competition. Team members included: Oliver Holland, Baylen Tinsley, Walker Dobson, and Joey Gonzales. The following individuals received placings in the top ten: 5th place individual: Oliver Holland and 7th place individual: Baylen Tinsley.
The Veterinary Science Team received 2nd place in the district and 2nd place in the area also advancing to the state contest at Texas A&M University. Team members included Piper Colston, AJ Ortega, Mary Smith, Isa Hubert, Kate Rendon, Piper Deneweth, Myya Deneweth, Robbie Ochoa, and Roan Bell. Piper Colston placed 8th as an individual. This contest had more than 300 contestants and 55 teams.

Seahawk Band competed at the UIL Region 14 Concert and Sight Reading competition at Alice High School Thursday April 6, 2023. The band received Superior (Division 1) ratings from all 6 judges. We are very proud of how hard they worked and their dedication. Go Seahawk Band!

April is Autism Awareness Month. At the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), it's a time to reflect on progress and reaffirm on commitment to supporting research that responds to the needs of people on the autism spectrum, now and into the future. Let's show our commitment and support at Riviera Independant School District by wearing BLUE on April 14th.
Our Riviera Lady Seahawks Softball Team took the win yesterday afternoon (04/10/23) versus the Freer Lady Buckaroos by the score of 15-0. The Lady Seahawks opened up the bottom half of the 1st inning by scoring 3 runs, the Lady Buckaroos were able to hold the Lady Seahawks to no runs in the 2nd inning, but not for long after the Lady Seahawks got the bats going again for 12 runs in the bottom half of the 3rd inning. Three innings is all our Lady Seahawks needed to take the victory. Our Lady Seahawks move to 6-1 in district play. Join us tonight as the Lady Seahawks will be back in action versus the Ben Bolt Lady Badgers at 6:30pm for their ‘Parents Night’.
Seahawk Baseball Update:
The Riviera Seahawks vs. Freer Buckaroos baseball game, postponed until Saturday has been rescheduled for Monday, April 10th at 4:30 pm due to the blessed amount of rain received on Dr. Pat Hubert Field.

The baseball game scheduled for 5:30 pm against Freer has been postponed to Saturday 1 pm here at Dr. Pat Hubert Field.
