Last Friday, September 23rd, the Riviera Seahawks took on a physical Sacred Heart – Hallettsville team. Sacred Heart scored on its first possession of the game and did not look back from there. While the Seahawks did move the ball on offense, miscues did not allow the Seahawks to cross the goal line. Senior workhorse Robert Mayo had some tough runs carrying the ball 13 times for 49 yards. Freshman speedster Ethan Lerma showed off his wheels turning his 7 touches into 43 rushing yards. Lerma also had a 39-yard kickoff return on special teams. On the defensive side Joshua Russek lead the way with 2 solo tackles on the night.
The Seahawks have a bye this week before they begin their district schedule. Next game the Seahawks will be headed south to face off with the La Villa Cardinals on Oct. 7th, kickoff will be at 7:30.
