Riviera ISD's Early College High School

Riviera ISD's Early College High School

Riviera ISD is completing its second year with an Early College campus offering our students the opportunity to graduate high school with college credit hours, as well as an Associate’s Degree from Coastal Bend College.

When the class of 2019 become seniors, we will have students who walk the stage with an Associate’s Degree at Coastal Bend College, and then walk the stage with
a high school diploma at Kaufer High School. Those students earning a degree and diploma will participate in both graduation ceremonies at absolutely no cost for tuition, fees, or books!

he Riviera Seahawk Early College Academy provides opportunities for all students to advance toward successfully attaining college credit hours and skilled job opportunities in the workforce.  The program is designed to support student interest in college and careers and to personalize learning.  Our students not only learn how to navigate the college online systems of Blackboard and Campus Connect, but also how to communicate through Google documents and email. All students have the opportunity to earn Microsoft, Chief Architecture and Certified Nurses Aide certifications.

tudents who enroll in the Riviera Seahawk Early College Academy also have the opportunity participate in all of the sports, clubs, and other activities that Kaufer High School affords. Early College students at Riviera have the best of both worlds – one which provides structure, support, and accelerated coursework while enjoying all of the activities of a regular high school.  This “school within a school” model includes specific access to college facilities, college support systems including tutoring and mentoring, as well as college campus visits.

n addition, our students graduate from high school on the Foundation Program with an Endorsement on the Distinguished Level.  Students may choose from all five endorsements offered by the state. Our endorsement pathways include agriculture welding, veterinary science, wildlife management, engineering, interior design and architecture, fashion design, business, and certified nurses assistant, as well as a fine arts pathway in band and art.

begin the application process, eighth grade students must first submit a commitment application, and parents must agree to participate in all parent events. It is mandatory that all ECHS students participate in a four day, “Jump Start to College” summer program June 5 8, 2017.  This four-day program helps create that college-going attitude and develop essential skills for success when students take their first college class in the Fall of 2017.

The application deadline for ECHS is June 1,2017. Students who submit their application by that date will be able to participate in all spring events.  This includes our ECHS Celebration and Senior College Signing Day on April 28.  Our new ECHS parents and their child will also participate in our ECHS Spring Parent Dinner on
May 4.  This dinner is an opportunity for all of our parents to network and learn more about the program. Students, also, showcase their work.
